Entry #10: The Cycle Ends...?

For my final blog, I wanted to reflect on the experience as a whole. Despite being a bit tedious at times, I feel it was a fun time overall. It allowed me to try to think about writing in a new way, writing for a different audience than a typical essay or school project.

The part that I liked the most about this was with the open prompts. It allowed me to think loosely about a topic and find an interesting way to tie it in together. I enjoyed talking about my traveling for hobbies, because traveling is something I hold dearly. Weirdly enough, I also enjoyed the route I took when talking about hashtags, because I didn't just talk about what they mean, but rather how their use developed over time. The idea of taking a loose prompt and finding creative ways to write about it was fun in the way that it made me creatively think about a topic.

The part I didn't like, however, were the two prompts that felt difficult to put a spin on. The one about college education and having to read two specific articles to write about was restricting in a way that made it uninteresting to write about. Same for the slanted journalism, having to find a specific type of article to talk about was much less interesting than it could've been.

The self generated ones were in the middle for me. I liked coming up with some topics, but having so many made it difficult to think of topics consistently. Though, coming up with topics is a part of blogging, so the learning experience of creativity was there.

Overall, it allowed for me to develop a better understanding of different writing styles for different audiences, as well as the different levels of creativity involved in developing them.

  1. Hey Mark-Anthony, I am with you there, It was challenging to write blogs on some of the given prompts, but I still enjoyed them because it allowed me to get out of my comfort zone and find ways to complete research! But I still much prefer the open prompts, it allowed me a space to write about what I'm feeling or have accomplished in my life and it opens my writing to other college students who are supportive and or maybe undergoing similar circumstances, Overall blogs was definitely one of my most favorite assignments in this class!

  3. Hello Mark-Anothony, I understand how you feel about the project. Completing each blog felt like a chore for me but at the same time they were very fun to work with. Writing in different ways for different audiences will always be needed and having this blog space seemed to have helped you a lot.
